A significant revision of public order law aimed at aiding police in addressing hate speech and extremism at protests is postponed until autumn due to Labour’s leadership change. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood planned to release a review outlining new police powers, but Antonia Romeo, the cabinet secretary, enforced rules delaying new policies until after Andy Burnham assumes leadership on 20 July.
