Ex-ministers warn tuition fees must rise urgently. a group of former ministers and vice-chancellors warned the next UK government will have to urgently increase tuition fees or funding to prevent university bankruptcies within two years. They claim the financial situation is worse than forecasts from the Office for Students, which predicted 40% of England’s universities will end this year in the red. They suggest annual increases of between £2,000 and £3,500 per student could stabilise the sector.
