The United States has imposed sanctions on Rosneft and Lukoil, Russia’s largest oil companies, as part of efforts to pressure the Kremlin to end its conflict with Ukraine. The sanctions, the first since Donald Trump resumed office in January, aim to curb oil revenues funding Russia’s military actions. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated, “Now is the time to stop the killing and for an immediate ceasefire.”
