Britney Spears was arrested under the suspicion of ‘driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs’.
The Toxic hitmaker, 44, was taken into police custody at around 9:30 pm local time (05.30 GMT) on Wednesday night after being stopped by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
A representative for Britney said in a statement that the incident was ‘completely inexcusable’ and expressed their hopes that it will encourage the singer to seek ‘help and support she needs during this difficult time.’
Spears was reported to authorities for driving her BMW ‘erratically at a high rate of speed’ on a motorway, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) has said.
