Where Glasgow Breathes: A Street Photography Chronicle

Glasgow in December: Light, Life and Movement

Christmas in Glasgow is always vibrant, unique and interesting. Just like everything else and any other time in this city.
All of these photos were taken on the early evening of Wednesday 10th December, around the main arteries of Buchanan Street, Sauchiehall St and Hope St.
It’s always an honour and pleasure to document the vibe and atmosphere of Glasgow, but something about this time of year always enhances that feeling.

Wednesday 10th December, 2025

Since 2018, I’ve been taking photos on the streets of Glasgow. It started as an interest in photo composition and a desire to capture the mood, atmosphere and vibe of the city.

In 2020, the Pandemic happened and restricted everyone’s freedom to move freely, while also reducing the amount of places to go. At the same time, I bought my first proper camera: the Canon Eos M50 mkii. I began taking photos of the empty streets, then people as they began to appear back and finally events.
I’ve been displaying these online ever since and take great pride in being able to show former natives and those with fond memories of the city these photos on social media. The stories of their lives as they grew up, or visited, here before spreading their wings internationally is inspirational and always makes me smile.
It’s an honour and a pleasure to now be able to share them with the readers of thefile.online and want to thank the paper and it’s editors for this opportunity.”

As time goes by, we will be focusing on more specifics and stories of the city and it’s people. For now, I hope you enjoy this wee view of the dear, green City of Glasgow and the people who Make It.
