Keir Starmer plans to reintroduce 76 European Union directives into UK law as the Government aims for closer alignment with the single market. Legislation will be introduced in the King’s Speech in May to enable Labour to transfer European regulations in agriculture and food sectors. Rachel Reeves has noted that some sectors would retain British laws due to their strategic importance, but this would be an exception.
