King Charles has hailed the importance of this alliance in a “contested world”, during his toast at a White House state dinner. No-one should be confused. In this increasingly “contested world”, we need America. We need our big brother. We need an America that shares a very similar way of life and cultural and religious views.
Our king has done us proud. Trump will feel empowered by his support and that can only be a good thing for UK/USA relations. I somehow feel safer knowing that.
In his toast, President Trump calls ties with the UK a “friendship unlike any other” and said Charles III agees with him that Iran must not have a nuclear weapon. In a typically playful address, the King jokes with Trump: “If it wasn’t for us you’d be speaking French”. He also gifts Trump a bell from HMS Trump, a submarine which fought in WW2.
People who seek to de-stabilise the western world, our ways and culture would be wise to take note. If we turn-up to a fight our big brother is coming with us!
