In amongst some charged exchanges be wteen the two nations it seems that Ukraine is close to signing a minerals deal with the US. The deputy prime minister of Ukraine said on Monday that her country was in the “final stages” of thrashing out an agreement, which Washington sees as repayment for military aid. Mr Zelensky has expressed hopes that the conflict could “finish this year”. Donald Trump also told reporters that “it looks like we’re getting very close” to a deal with Ukraine.
