AI is out of control!

Paul Christiano, a senior adviser at the US commerce department’s Center for AI Standards and Innovation, warned of a “meaningful risk” of losing control over AI due to rapid advancements. He emphasised the potential for “catastrophic and irreversible loss of control” if superintelligence is developed without robust alignment, suggesting that such a scenario could result in the death of most people.
