Ben Stokes faces losing the Test captaincy over another England nightclub scandal. Stokes, 35, and fast bowler Gus Atkinson, 28, have been reported to the ccricket regulator for an incident in a nightclub in the early hours of Monday morning. The pair were celebrating England’s 115-run victory over New Zealand in the First Test.
Full details are unclear although it is believed players from Saracens rugby club were at the same venue. Last night reports claimed a punch was thrown towards Atkinson that hit an ECB security guard instead and left them needing stitches.
ECB sources are apparently adamant that Stokes and Atkinson were not “the aggressors” in the melee in a Chelsea club. They were not hurt and the police were not involved, reports add. The pair were celebrating England’s 115-run victory over New Zealand in the First Test.
