Statto joins The File.

Statto joins The File.

Angus Loughran, better known as Statto from Fantasy Football shown on the BBC in the mid nineties is set to Join The File as a resident betting expert on the sports pages.

By his own admission he is a sports anorak and we believe his rainman-like knowledge of football will help us win a few quid during the World Cup.

He will be talking football throughout the tournament in June both on video and in the written word. Have a look at him in action with David Baddiel and Frank Skinner.

The general appetite in the UK for nostalgia is gathering pace. Chris Evans is returning with TFI Friday and there is a broad sense that social media and woke sensibilities have gained way too much traction to the point that people are not allowed to say what they want or how they feel for fear of offending someone or some group somewhere.
The threat of cancellation is ever present and frankly The Great British public has had enough! In this context it is comforting to know that there are still some faces around from shows that we loved from the past.
The mid nineties was a good time to be alive. Oasis and Blur were fighting it out in the UK charts. Scary spice was wearing her union jack dress at the Brits and the England football team was busy beating the mighty Holland 4-1 at Wembley.
Fantasy Football was regularly on the telly and David Baddiel and Frank Skinner were often joined by Angus Loughran (Statto) whose encyclopaedic knowledge of football and the facts surrounding it were put to good use.
Angus admits to being a football anorak and he definitely could be described as Football’s Rainman. This curious creature came up with winning bets for viewers and we at The File plan to bring him back for this year’s world cup.
We will interview him every day of the tournament on camera for The Statto’s Back page and we will write about his betting tips.
