Steven Gerrard has bagged himself a new gig just days before the start of the new Premier League season. The Liverpool legend, 44, has been a bit-part pundit for TNT Sports in recent years.
And the Kop icon has expanded his role with the broadcaster, who are preparing to broadcast a whopping 700 matches across several competitions next season. He will be a “regular presence throughout the campaign”, giving his takes on the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup matches aired by the broadcaster.
But he won’t just be sitting in the studio; he’ll also, on occasion, join Darren Fletcher, Sam Matterface, Mike Minay and Adam Summerton in the commentary booth. Gerrard’s increased presence will further bolster TNT’s already all-star punditry team,
Joe Cole, Ally McCoist, Karen Carney, Owen Hargreaves, Joleon Lescott, Fara Williams, Steve McManaman, Lucy Ward, Glenn Hoddle Jen Beattie, Martin Keown, Anita Asante, Joel Ward and Robbie Savage will all be back on our screens for the broadcast’s prolonged footie extravaganza next season.
Scott Young, EVP, WBD Sports Europe, said: “With more than 700 live matches across domestic and European football, TNT Sports and HBO Max is an essential destination for football fans this season.
“The sheer volume of world-class football we bring together means there’s always a big match, an unmissable moment, a compelling story or a trophy on the line.
“From the referee’s first whistle in August to the biggest finals in May, we’re looking forward to taking football coverage to a whole new level.”
