Angling Direct profits double as sales fly. Angling Direct, a specialist retailer of fishing equipment, saw its pre-tax profits reach £1.5m in the year to January 31, more than double the £700,000 achieved the previous year. Sales rose by 10.2% to £81.7m, driven by a 9% growth in UK revenue to £77.4m and a 36.3% surge in European online sales to £4.3m. The company’s omnichannel loyalty club, MyAD, was attributed as a factor in its success and now has over 200,000 members.
